About

We Are A Network of Peacemakers whose Mission is

To Listen, Respond, and Work together for Peace and Justice.

Sierra Interfaith Action For Peace was founded in 1986 by concerned individuals in Reno, Nevada, who had been active in peace and justice issues and wished to establish an organization explicitly for these concerns.  Our group later became an affiliate of the Fellowship of Reconciliation.

We welcome people of all faiths to join us as we seek to promote nonviolent resolutions of conflicts and a more just society.

FOR Mission Statement:

The Fellowship of Reconciliation seeks to replace violence, war, racism and economic injustice with nonviolence, peace and justice.

We are an interfaith organization committed to active nonviolence as a transforming way of life and a means of radical change.  We educate, train, build coalitions, and engage in nonviolent and compassionate action locally, nationally and globally.

We Affirm:

The power of Love to overcome hate

Active Nonviolence as the path to Peace

Belief in the possibility of an end to all war

The sacredness of every individual—friend or foe

The power of faith, religious or other, for healing and reconciliation
